Chebyshev's Arithmometer
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
In 1876, Chebyshev designed his first calculating machine, the "Adding Machine of Continuous Motion," which was presumably exhibited later that year. This game is a digital reimagining of this historical device, offering an almost exact demonstration of what these early machines looked like. Featuring 10 digits and supporting both addition and subtraction, this interactive experience lets you spin the wheels to calculate results, just like the original device. Simple and intuitive, it's all about turning the gears to reach the correct numbers. If you're looking for more of a challenge, you can adjust the difficulty to test your skills even further.
Controls:
- Mouse Wheel: Spin the calculator wheels
- Left Mouse Button: Rotate the camera
- Mouse Wheel + Left Mouse Button: Zoom in/out
- P: Open/close the pause menu
- Esc: Quit the game
